Easter is just around the corner so bring the signs of Spring inside with some flowers and simple DIY eggs.
Take advantage of the great prices in your local grocery store. I picked up these hyacinths for $1.50 each!
I always do 3 or 4 dozen hard boiled eggs that I dye in pretty pastels. If you’ve never dyed eggs before you can learn how to here. I have had success keeping raw eggs year after year as they just dry out – but not these ones. I tried keeping my dyed hard boiled eggs from last year and it was a biohazard when I opened them up a few weeks ago. Don’t do it! Make ’em. Enjoy ’em. Toss ’em.
If you prefer a bold, graphic look get your hands on a Sharpie and design away. This obviously takes more time than dunking a bunch of eggs in a pot of dye but the great thing about this is that you can do it for a couple of minutes then put it down and come back to it whenever you have a few more minutes. I leave these raw and I keep them year after year. The trick is to store them in something that can breathe so they can dry out properly. In a few months there will just be a hardened yolk inside. The cardboard egg carton is perfect for storing. Don’t seal them in anything or you will need a hazmat suit when you pull them out of storage.
Happy Easter Everyone!
